I started Midtown Document Prep in 2017 because nonprofit formation is genuinely confusing and most people trying to do good work in their communities were getting lost in the paperwork before they ever got started. Since then I’ve helped hundred of organizations across nearly every U.S. state get formed, tax-exempt, compliant, and moving.
For the past four years I’ve also been doing this work from the inside - as Executive Director of a rural California crisis center. I inherited a mess. Compliance gaps, operational chaos, a team that needed real leadership. We fixed it. Today it’s a stable functional organization with 12 staff, 8 contractors, and $3.5M in annual revenue. I know what it takes to build something solid because I’ve had to do it under pressure.
I have my BA in English Literature from UC Davis, a Paralegal Certificate from UC Berkeley, and a Nonprofit Fundraising and Development Certificate from UC San Diego. I have worked for county agencies, nationwide law firms, business and tax attorneys and a few things in-between. But mostly, I am someone who has been in the room when things go wrong and know how to get them right.
When I am not working, I am somewhere in the Lost Sierra with my husband, four kids, and a Cane Corso named Ham.
